Meekatharra

So I left Sydney to come to Melbourne to find work and a flat, and what happened i got a job in western australia! The job was bar work and housekeeping in a country pub. I knew nothing of the area, but thought what the hell, its not like i've got any other option! So the madness began, I had to book a flight from Melbourne to Perth for the next day, didnt get into perth till 1am, was mad. The flight was fine, was on time, even though i went with the australian version of ryanair! It took like 3 hours to get to perth but after my flight from uk to sydney, that was nothing! I then got a taxi to my hostel, but nobody was in to sign me in, i thought shiiitttt!!!!! But then someone who was staying at the hostel was coming in, luckily and she let me in so i could at least get a couple of hours sleep. I had to get up at like 7 the next day to get my bus. I had no idea where i was going, but luckily a man with a van who i passed by gave me a lift to the coach terminal. I had plenty of time till my coach arrived so I had some time to get some breakfast. I got on my bus and it was fine, i thought this is it now for 13 hours. The bus stopped off at roadhouses, so we could get a toilet break and get some food. I got to Meekatharra and i was met at the stop and went to the pub, met loads of locals and some of the english girls. But i was a debbie and went straight to bed ha! So the next day I went downstairs and was introduced to tiphaine, a French girl i was to be working with for a couple of weeks. She was nice and we worked well together. My day comprises of housekeeping in the mornings, then bar work of an evening. It's easy work and the money's alright. I'm hardly spending anything at the moment, so good chance for me to save money for my travels.

After a week into my stay here I went to the Royal Mail hotel, which is another pub to mine, and we had some drinks a bit of a dance was a good night. After that I hung around with the english girls fairly reguarly, and they introduced us to some locals, which was a fun way of having a true experience! Mainly involving alcohol, but hey when in rome....I went to see all the local sights recently, involving five mile, like a water filled quary where people go swimming, a race track, a speed way, airport etc. That's it really ha!

Meekatharra is a really small town, so it is a true aussie experience! Theres loads of aboriginals who come into the pub, and they are tricky always ordering a block of emu export, a 1.25 bottle of coke, packet of chips and winfield blue! what a healthy way to live! but im not here to judge!

I'm enjoying my experience here, im not 2 sure how long im gonna be here, although I have less money than i thought, that serves me right for not checking my account since december! So might just stay for the 3 months which would give me back what i came to oz with, then do some more travelling up north and over to ayers rock. then work somewhere else for 6-8 weeks then start my east coast trip, all undecided as of yet. Depends when i can get work and things on when i come home but enjoying my time now...

I can't believe the floods and cyclones in queensland, i was going to do queensland when i first got to australia, its a good job i didnt now and came west. But there's no rush in heading east yet anyway so if i stay out here for 3-6 months then by time i go to cairns in maybe june then it will be better...then gonna head back down to sydney or maybe melbourne and fly home from there!!

love and miss you all lots xxxxxxxxxxx
